All our cashmere scarves are produced from the hair fibres of Chyangra goats.

Cashmere

The fibre obtained from the inner hair of the Himalayan Chyangra goat is also known by it’s more commonly used name as pashmina!
It is this ‘diamond fibre’, the finest and highest quality cashmere, once spun into yarn, is used to make FRANCI scarves.
The hair is collected through the natural process of shedding and combing during springtime.
It is sorted, separated and de-haired leaving behind light fluffy fibres which are less than 17 microns in diameter, less than 3 times the diameter of a human hair.

Production

We are not interested in mass production!

we source our Chyangra cashmere scarves from a small family owned craft business in Nepal.
Working for the family is a small team of experienced artisans who understand the process of crafting with the delicate Chyangra cashmere fibre by using the traditional wooden handlooms.
Our scarves are created with environmentally-friendly and ethical handmade production processes.

All our scarves are hand made by artisans.

Artisans

Our artisans have safe working environments, their livelihoods are sustained by being paid a fair wage for their craftsmanship, keeping their craft alive for future generations. Their love for the craft has been spun into the pure cashmere yarn and then beautifully woven to create a cashmere scarf that is soft to the touch, light as a feather and as individual and elegant as YOU.

Cashmere Trademark

Chyangra cashmere (also known as pashminas) denotes the highest grade, finest cashmere in the world featuring the rare fibres of the Chyangra mountain goats of the Nepalese Himalayas.

Over the decades, cashmere pashminas have been copied using non Chyangra cashmere fibre which are passed of as pashmina and sold very cheaply.

The Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) together with the Government of Nepal have now introduced a prestigious trademark for scarves produced from this Chyangra cashmere fibre.
This trademark and label is now recognised and acknowledged throughout the world.

Producers who use Chyangra cashmere fibre can only acquire the certification by complying to a strict code of conduct and maintaining stringent quality standards.
